A Rewarding Week at Torpoint Community College

A Rewarding Week at Torpoint Community College

This week at Torpoint Community College we have been recognising and rewarding the hard work, effort  and dedication made by some of our exceptional students this year. All year long students have had the opportunity to gain merits in their planners for a number of reasons; good behaviour, hard work, a good deed, helping and supporting others and achieving or exceeding their target grade in an assessment or piece of work.

The School has held a Merit Shop all week at lunchtimes where students were able to exchange their merits for a number of small stationary items or they could buy raffle tickets for the chance of winning some special prizes kindly donated by Local Companies.

Some of the local businesses/shops in Torpoint as well as numerous Local Tourist attractions and restaurants generously donated a range of prizes for our students.  Alongside the 10 prizes in the raffle, the top six student students in each year group with the most merits were able to pick one of the fantastic prizes donated. Prizes included free rides down the longest zip wire in the UK,  dinner for two at ‘The View’ Restaurant,  Family ticket to the Eden Project, 20 minutes free Go Karting, REEL cinema tickets, Family ticket for Plymouth Raiders, Express Manicures and Segwaying vouchers.

If you would like to see a full list of all the donations given and the names of the students who won them then please follow the following link:

Sainsburys, The Co-op and Spar also all kindly donated boxes of chocolates which we have used to reward tutor groups with the highest attendance and merits.

Gill Lake (Rewards Co-ordinator at the college) said  “It’s been a great week and fantastic to see the students being recognised and rewarded for the wonderful students that they are and for the wonderful things that they do!”
