Army School’s Challenge

Army School’s Challenge

Two teams of students have recently represented Torpoint Community College at the 2016 Army Schools’ Challenge held at Westpoint, Exeter. The teams consisted of Year 9 and 10 students. The activities on the day were designed to develop teamwork, communication skills  and problem solving. Students made a stretcher out of rope to carry one of their team 100 metres. In addition to carrying the ‘casualty’ they also had to carry team equipment. Another challenge was to erect a tent but the team members were blindfolded and assisted by commands from the team leaders.

In total there were eight challenges. Students had the opportunity to learn more about the work of the different units within the Army. The day was rounded off with a Tug o’ War competition.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We did not win the competition but students gained much from the experience. Well done to all 21 students.
