Book Buzz Reading Event

Book Buzz Reading Event

We were delighted to welcome some of our Year 7 and 8 students and their parents to join us at the College on Wednesday 6th December to celebrate reading.

The night began with an excellent performance of The Grinch, delivered by a group of Year 7 students.  Miss Lockett (head of English) then delivered a presentation and explained some key research into the importance of ensuring young people read for pleasure, talked through the initiatives that are on-going at the College to raise the profile of reading and suggested ways that reading can be promoted at home.

There was then an opportunity for parents to chat to our highly-knowledgeable English team about their child’s progress in English.  The evening was rounded off with some mince pies and all of the children who attended were given a book, bought for them by the College, so that they can read it over the Christmas holidays.

Many thanks to all who attended and to the talented Year 10 pianists (Amy Pearton, Finn Woodrow and Rosie Richardson) who treated us to musical interludes and created a super atmosphere.
