College Update

College Update

Dear Parent / Carer

Further to my letter that I sent to you just before the half term break, I am writing to give you a further update on what is happening with regards to the College partially reopening for our Year 10 and 12 students which is currently planned to take place in the week commencing 15th June.

Today we have seen children in early years, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 began returning to primary schools and early years settings across England in line with the Prime Minister’s announcement on the 28th May. This has caused concern amongst many and we will watch closely how the situation develops over the coming days and weeks. It was also announced that there would be a gradual reopening of secondary schools starting on 15th June, to provide ‘face-to-face contact time’ for Year 10 and 12 students, for which further guidance can be found here

I am pleased to report that planning is well underway for a phased reopening of the College in two weeks time for our Year 10 and 12 students. This will comprise a maximum of a quarter of the respective year groups (Year’s 10 and 12) in each day from the outset, with remote learning continuing to be the predominant form of education as directed by the Department for Education. As you will be aware it is all about proceeding cautiously and building the confidence of those working within the College, with parents and with students that it is safe to return and that all the appropriate safety measures are in place in line with the government’s guidelines and the College’s risk assessment.

The focus of this week is to finalise plans for the proposed “face to face” provision for our Year 10 and 12 students after which further information will be cascaded out to all staff and parents for a 15th June start. A survey was circulated to parents before half term to gather information with regard to Year 10 and 12 student attendance from the 15th June. Thank you to those parents that have completed the survey. There are still a number outstanding so if you haven’t completed the survey I would be grateful if you could do so by clicking on the link here

Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to providing you with a further update on the partial reopening of the College later this week.

With my kind regards

Jeremy Plumb
