Community Mosaic Project

Community Mosaic Project

July 2015 saw the end of a yearlong plan with students of Torpoint Community College working in collaboration with Mr Mike Pearn, Mayor of Torpoint, to design and build a mosaic wall in Benodet Friendship Garden.

The students designed the project to fit in with the vision of Mr Pearn. They painted the background of the wall and then designed and made both individual and joint mosaics to be mounted onto this. Each of these mosaics tie in with the theme of our local area, the scene itself is an interpretation of the view across the ferry towards Mount Edgcumbe and Plymouth Sound. The students spent a week completing the project: they worked extremely hard, and the final outcome is stunning.

Mrs Hazeldine, Head Teacher at the College, was present at the park whilst the mosaics were put up and was very proud of the wonderful efforts of all of the students. “It is wonderful to see our students contributing to our local area.  We are very excited by this project and the final outcome is fantastic.”

The students involved all enjoyed their week and have been really pleased to see their efforts come together with such great results.

Well done to Becky, Charlotte, Chloe, Issie, Matthew, Morgan, Stephanie, and Tom for all of their hard work.
