Congratulations to all our Year 11s – GCSE Results 2014

Inspired Optimistic Learners” from Torpoint Community College have achieved the highest results in the history of the College with improvements to last year’s staggering results.

Inspired students at Torpoint Community College have achieved the highest results in the history of the College with a significant improvement in the number of students attaining the highest grades of A* and A in many subjects and especially in Maths, with a fantastic 20% leap in three years. This significant improvement  across the College is a reflection of both each and every inspired individual learner and the hard working members of staff. The College is looking forward to welcoming a significant number of these students into the hugely successful Sixth Form at the College which again this year also celebrates excellent results and sees every student move successfully to their next steps.

At this early stage of examination analysis, with several results yet to come in and the sudden changes to Examinations and GCSEs, although anticipated to further increase, approximately 62% of students gained a minimum of 5 or more GCSEs grades A* – C including English and Maths using similar measures as last year; this being the highest results yet in the history of TCC and is reflecting our continued improved results for the third year running. Over 97% of our students gained at least one A*-C grades.  There has been a significant increase in the numbers of students gaining 9, 10 or more at the highest levels of A* – B grades.

However, to mention a few are the achievements of some of the students starting with the outstanding Lucy Haggerty who achieved an amazing ten A* grades and a distinction, Alice Varley who achieved 4 A*, 4 A, 1 grade B, one distinction, one distinction star and one double merit. Chloe Roberts achieved 4 A*, 5 A, one grade B and one distinction.  Also worth noting the girls listed below achieved between them a grand total of 5 A* grades, 18 A grades, 6 B grades, 1 grade C and 2 distinctions.  Well done to Hannah Byrne, Megan Roberts and Aimee Hannaford.

There are, of course, many other stars that could be named and a massive well done to all students and all their achievements which has broken every record in history of TCC. The achievement of all individuals will be celebrated at a special awards ceremony in December 2014 when students collect their examination certificates.

It was clear that the class of 2014 was a very special group. Rising to every challenge and imposed change as dictated by the Department for Education.

The College is immensely proud to be a fully inclusive College and students at the College on vocational programmes also did exceptionally well achieving distinctions and merits from their BTEC and ASDAN courses.

Andrea Hazeldine, Headteacher at the College said “All the staff and Governors at the College are extremely proud of our students’ achievements and are looking forward to supporting them over the next few years.  Well done”.
