Important Date for the Diary – Saturday 7th February 2015

On Saturday 7th February 2015 there will be a training day for participants.

The first part of the training from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm will be First Aid training and HMS Raleigh have very kindly offered to deliver this for us and this will take part in the training wing at HMS Raleigh (we are extremely lucky they have agreed to do this – you will be given the very best training!)

The second part of the day will include a visit from Cotswold Outdoors, who will be helping to show you how best to pack your rucksack for expeditions and will advise on the best kit and food to take with you.

Time permitting, we also plan to show you how to pitch a tent and how to cook outdoors.

I would have loved to have everyone taking part, but I can only offer this to the first 25 participants who return their consent forms to me (these will be sent home w/c 12th January).  It is essential however, that the students taking part in their Bronze practice and qualifying expeditions in March (you know who you are!) take part in this training, so you need to return your consent forms ASAP.

Further details on the day will be included with the consent forms.

Other news:

Expedition training has now began in earnest and it is essential that those taking part in expeditions this year turn up for the training sessions every Wednesday in room 18 (I am keeping a record of who attends!) – failure to attend will result in your not being able to take part in the expedition!
