East Cornwall Netball Finals

East Cornwall Netball Finals

TCC Year 7 , 8 and 9 netball teams had a fantastic end to the netball season at the East Cornwall finals in Bude on 20th March.

Year 7, captained by Holly ,went in to the finals unbeaten and had a great tournament. Their performance against Bude showed excellent team work and communication winning14-2 and the same against Wadebridge winning 9-1. Their results mean they are East Cornwall Champions 2019 and they finish their season unbeaten.
Nominated players were Poppy against Bude and Rosie against Wadebridge, both for their excellent passing, movement and shooting as GA and GS. This is a talented team of girls who have bonded well, trained very hard and competed really successfully in their first season.

Year 8, captained by Mia, also went in to the finals unbeaten. They started with an excellent win of 13-8 against Bude playing some of the best netball they’ve played all season, with excellent control, timing and accuracy. Their second match was their toughest yet and saw them come up against a very strong, well organised Wadebridge team. Despite their best efforts they lost 13-3. They finished their tournament on a high beating Callington 6-3 to finish in second place.
Nominated players were Beth against Bude and Callington, and Bridgette against Wadebridge. A fantastic season for a team that has developed enormously this year showing excellent commitment to training and a hugely competitive spirit.

The Year 9 girls, joint captained by Rosie and Maddy, started the season without a full team of committed players and has seen new players come and go so to get to the finals has been a massive achievement for those who have persevered. They came up against a strong Bude and Wadebridge team losing both matches but still maintaining high spirits and looking for the positives . Having recently lost to Callington 12- 4 they were determined to give it their all in their final match and narrow the gap which they did losing by only one goal at 13-12 with Callington.
Nominated players were Rosie against Bude and Maddy against Wadebridge. This team immediately set an aim of improving their fitness and skill levels to beat Callington next season. They have really impressed with their positive attitude and maturity. In decision making they always put the team first, trying to work through difficulties together and always encouraging and supporting each other.

TCC is very proud of the netball squads’ achievements and commitments this season and we look forward to watching their squad build on their achievements next season. Athletics training will start in the last week of term for anyone interested. Ask your tutors or PE teachers about training sessions.
