Ethics Visitor

Key Stage 3 students from Years 7 to 9 were visited during Ethics lessons by Sister Iqbal Warsi, a Muslim chaplain, who explained her life as a Muslim and also as a former scientist.  She helped foster understanding of the prophets in Islam, as well as the 5 Muslim pillars that are followed worldwide by the Muslim community. In addition she was more than happy to share her experiences of going on ‘hajj’ to Mecca, an expectation once in a lifetime for all Muslims if able to afford to do so. Students asked questions about Islam including asking about marriage, family, the mosque, wearing a hijab, war and peace and halal food laws. Students now have a greater understanding of the role of prayer in a Muslims life and  beliefs followed by what is the fastest growing religion in the world at present.
