Examination Results at Torpoint Community College

Torpoint Community College is pleased to report some outstanding achievements by its students in their GCSEs, A level and other qualifications this summer. On 10th August, Year 13 students celebrated their success on A level results day and Year 11 students celebrated GCSE results day on 12th August. Staff and Governors are extremely proud of each and every one of the Year 11 and 13 students.

This year, following the cancellation of examinations for a second year, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the examination boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.

The increased challenge that recent months have brought has not diminished the work of our Year 11 and 13 students. It is important to remember that students have been with us for five or seven years and each results day sees the culmination of all the hard work and steely determination that has been achieved.

Students have received grades which are a testament to their hard work and commitment throughout their studies and which really promote our motto “Inspiring Optimistic Learners”. We are confident that our students have completed Year 11 or 13 with the grades they fully deserve and which put them in a strong position to embark upon the next part of their learning journey.

Dr Jeremy Plumb, Headteacher, said ‘I am delighted for the students. Their hard work over many years, great teaching and the overwhelming support from parents have resulted in the College continuing to go from strength to strength. The challenges that everyone has faced over recent months, and throughout the pandemic, does not take away from the excellent achievements and is a testament to the strength and resilience of everyone’. There is much to celebrate in 2021 and for the future ahead.
