Head Teacher Letter to Parents and Carers

Head Teacher Letter to Parents and Carers

Dear Parents and carers

This has been a busy week at the College as we have been completing the final preparations for the face to face provision for our Year 10 and 12 students which starts on Monday (15th June). This has included a member of staff contacting all Year 10 and 12 parents to confirm the details of when their child has been timetabled to attend school over the next four weeks. As a reminder, this will comprise one day each week between 9:00am and 12.30pm.

In the event that we have been unable to contact you by telephone, the above details should have been sent to you be e-mail. Please do not hesitate to contact the College’s main reception should you require any further details regarding the face to face provision.

The health, safety and well-being of our College community is of paramount importance and a great deal of effort has been made to ensure the requisite measures have been put in place to minimise the risk of coronavirus transmission amongst staff, students and visitors to the College. A number of documents have recently been circulated to parents (also available on the College website) to try and facilitate the smooth and effective partial reopening of the College. These include a Social Distancing Policy and a document to consolidate the expectations of students, parents and staff during this pandemic. In addition, staff attended a College training session on Wednesday 10th June and a Powerpoint presentation has been circulated to students and parents containing details on our partial reopening next week.

We will be continuing to provide remote learning for all year groups, which will remain the primary source of teaching and learning, and we will also be piloting some live lessons next week for a number of subjects for which further details will follow from Mrs Lockett.

I would also like to take this opportunity to request that you activate your SIMS Parent App if you haven’t already done so. This new system will significantly improve the way we, as a College, can communicate with you and as we develop this provision you will be able to access useful data in respect of your child.

Finally I would like to thank you for your ongoing support. I appreciate how challenging this recent lockdown period has been for both you and your family. We continue to live in very uncertain times, and in the educational setting it is certainly a dynamic environment in which things are changing by the day. I await with great interest the government’s announcement next week on its “catch up plan” for children not returning to school this term. I’m sure I will be writing to you again very soon in respect of this matter. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe.

With my kind regards

Jeremy Plumb
