Indoor Climbing

Congratulations to our Year 12 and 13 A ‘Level Sports students who have completed 2 days of intensive indoor climbing instruction for the Outdoor Education unit of their course at the Climbing Barn, Tavistock. They managed to overcome their fears to complete their aim of Level 1 and, due to their ability,  also most of their Level 2 of the Indoor Climbing Award Scheme. The 2 days involved learning safe practice, understanding the equipment for wall and bouldering, and supporting and encouraging each other up 10 metre walls and overhangs. They are now able to confidently belay their climbing partners and support a fall. Having completed Wakeboarding and Kayaking this has been an exciting unit for an excellent A’ Level group who are successfully going on to Physical Education, Primary Education, Outdoor Education, Accountancy, Marine Biology and Sports Science degrees in September as well as the armed forces.
