It has been a busy couple of weeks for the Music Department and many of our performers.

Last week, 20 of our choir took part in a concert organised by Plymouth Music Accord. This remarkable charity sponsors expert tuition for our choir, in the form of small workshops and individual tuition by Louise Parker. The choir sang three numbers on the night, performing amazingly well and gained a bit of a fan club, attracting loads of favourable comments about their enthusiasm and how well they sang.

The Samba band and Show band (32 performers in total!) were in action this weekend, both turning in stellar performances in front of a huge audience at the Plymouth Pavilions. The event was organised by the Plymouth Music Hub, and featured many ensembles drawn from across the city and county. The Samba band performed a very lively Ragga, featuring much in the way of audience participation, and including a couple of star turns from our roadies James and Liam. The Show band performed a four-song set of Funk, Pop and Rock tunes. Many of our younger players haven’t been playing long, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing on the large stage. A special mention must go to our drummer Jay. who has only been with us for a week.

Both performances were extremely well received, and all are looking forward to performing again as soon as possible.
