Year 7 Netball News

Torpoint vs Looe

The Year 7 Netball Squad has been really committed to training this year. They train every Monday after College and Wednesday lunch times as well. Their hard work and dedication has really paid off so far this season.

They played Looe two weeks ago showing excellent team work and communication to win 9-4. Hollie was strong and commmanding as centre and Keeley was very consistent with her movement and shooting as GA. Marley played excellently as WD in the first half and WA in the second half to be named as nominated player of the match.

Torpoint vs Liskeard

Last week we were able to play both of our Year 7 teams against Liskeard following the disappointment of tournaments being cancelled again. Hollie and Mia showed some excellent movement and passing as C and WA, feeding really well in to the circle for Bridgette and Keeley for the red team. Beth worked incredibly hard and was difficult to get past as Centre for the green team, with Hollie confident with her circle play and shooting. Again our teams showed really competitive spirit with our red team winning 11-0 and the green team winning 3-0. Bridgette (GS) and Hollie (GS)  were both named nominated players for their excellent shooting.

We also took the opportunity to play the Liskeard Year 8 team as they were keen to play. These were narrow losses but really good experience against an older and much bigger team.

We look forward to playing Saltash in the coming weeks.

Year 8 Netball News

The Year 8 netball team has found it frustratingly hard to find a consistent squad of players who are committed to training regularly this year. However they took on a tough Looe team with several County players two weeks ago. Rosie worked tirelessly as C and then GD against a Cornwall County shooter to deservedly be named as nominated player. Despite losing they came away positive and happy with their performance. Well done to the small squad of girls who have remained dedicated and keen to keep training and improving.

Netball training will keep going over the summer for Years 7 and 8 but keep an eye out for athletics training which will start soon.
