Plymouth Raiders Visit

Plymouth Raiders Visit

Students from Year  7-9 were selected to take part in a visit from two professional Plymouth Raiders basketball players along with a member of their coaching staff. They visited the school to educate students in the best ways to prepare for physical activity. This included a theory hour where their food diaries were scrutinised (some better than others!) and the group looked at ways to improve them and the impact it would have on physical activity to the pathways the professionals had taken to get to their level of sport and what students could be doing now. There was then a practical session looking at the best ways to physically prepare for sport with warm up techniques, stretching ideas and a taster of skill, agility, quickness drills. The students were all fantastic and used the opportunity to ask great questions to athletes with honest answers and on the flip side Torpoint students showed the level of dedication and talent we have in sport to athletes who were overly impressed!

Thank you to Mr Loughran for organising the opportunity.
