Sixth Form Update

Sixth Form Update

To Year 12 and 13 students, parents and carers.

Yesterday’s announcement of College closures and cancellation of A Level and AS Level exams was met with us all with a mixture of relief and confusion.  At the moment we are still unclear about how grades are to be awarded for our students but have been reassured by the exam boards and universities that students will not be disadvantaged by these events.

We are expecting announcements tomorrow that will clarify the situation.

At the moment my advice to Year 13 students is to keep copies of all coursework, notes and assignments.  If you have coursework or NEAs ready to hand in, please send them to us.  We will contact all students with information as soon as we receive it.

I am enormously proud of the achievements of all of our students this year and feel privileged to work with them.  We are gathering as a Sixth Form tomorrow at 9.30 in the Common Room to say goodbye to each other – hopefully only for a short period of time.  We will have hot cross buns and pastries and, if students are able to attend, it will be lovely to see you.

For Year 12 your courses will continue and work will be set regularly  for you on Show My Homework.  Please keep working and focussed on your studies.  I am always available to answer any of your questions by email on golding.j@torpoint.cornwall.sch.uk and will be in touch again in the next few days.

Best wishes

John Golding
