STEM/Careers session with the REME

STEM/Careers session with the REME

The role of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) is to keep the punch in the Army’s fist. It’s the REME’s job to maintain, repair and manufacture equipment  and to keep the Army’s battle winning aircraft, tanks, vehicles  and weapons in good working order. A small team of soldiers from REME visited Torpoint Community College to work with a group of talented more able Maths and Science students using Air-powered Rocket cars. The session focussed on maths, problem solving, project management, resource allocation and of course the students tested the cars that they designed.

Well-done to all the students involved, there were some great examples of designs, engineering and some very fast cars, including a racing combine harvester!
