TCC Hustings

TCC Hustings

Torpoint Community College’s Sixth Form were delighted to host a Hustings on Thursday 21st November, as part of students’ on-going education about the importance of politics and the December 2019 election.  All South East Cornwall Candidates were invited to attend. Two attended, Gareth Derrick representing Labour and Colin Martin representing the Liberal Democrats. Both candidates addressed the room in turn with their important party messages before answering individual questions from students. It was a dynamic and inspiring event, with many students  engaging in political debate and promoted discussion and passionate debates as students considered the party that best matched their needs.  A number of Year 13 students will be voting for the first time in the upcoming election and this was an important opportunity for them to engage with the candidates who hope to represent them.
