The Ten Tors Challenge 2019

The Ten Tors Challenge 2019

A massive well done to everyone who took part in The Ten Tors Challenge this year. The students have been training hard since October with the support of a great group of adult volunteers and older pupils.  The sun was shining on Saturday morning as they woke at 0500hrs and, whilst waiting at the start line, they were entertained by a parachute display before the guns went off at 0700hrs.  The teams of six then set off from Okehampton Army camp to walk 35 miles visiting 10 Tors plus other check points.

Unfortunately the team entered under the PSCA late on Monday were unable to finish, but they should be congratulated on their efforts. All teams had to complete the challenge by 1700hrs on Sunday in order to obtain a medal and the two Torpoint Community College teams completed their 35 mile routes at 1324hrs and 1610hrs.

It is a huge achievement to be able to be able to start the Ten Tors Challenge, and Mrs Porter and her team of volunteers are proud of all those who took part. There will be a slideshow /presentation evening on 22nd May at 6pm in the Sixth Form Common room. Everyone is welcome to attend.
