Torpoint Students Success in UK Maths Competition!

Torpoint Students Success in UK Maths Competition!

Thirty  of our top mathematicians in Years 9,10 and 11 took part in the UK Intermediate Maths Challenge. The maths challenge is a one and a half hour paper that contains a variety of questions that involve puzzles, problems, logic as well as maths, which make them challenging and enjoyable to those taking part. It is a national competition with the best mathematicians from all over the UK taking part. The paper is designed to challenge the most able students and get them to think about the maths skills that they need to use.  There were fantastic results at Torpoint Community College with a third of the students participating receiving awards.

Tom Lancaster of year 10 achieved a Silver award, Best in Year 10 and Best in School.  Josh Dorrington (Yr 11) and Adam Welch (Yr 9) also received silver awards and were Best in their year groups.

Erin McMahon (Yr 11), Will Allen (Yr 11) , Sam Wainwright (Yr 10) and Jo Evans (Yr 9) all received Silver awards. Ethan Valerio (Yr 11), James Fortt (Yr 11), Nathan Franklin (Yr 11) and Toby Ellis (Yr 10) all also achieved Bronze awards.
