West Regional Rowing Championships

Year 10 TCC students have recently had the opportunity to try and reach the British Rowing requirement time for their age in order to take part in the West Regional Rowing Championships.
Sixteen students qualified and twelve of them went on to take part in the event at UCP Marjons on Tuesday 1st March.

Accompanied by Miss Milford and Miss Greenbank the nervous students proved that they could do well in an unfamiliar environment and push themselves out of their comfort level to do themselves proud.

Harry Nicholls, Lance Dearden, Kheefer Brindley and Tyler Foster were the representatives for the boys. They all rowed hard for the full 5 minutes of the race while the girls team cheered them on. Harry managed to come 4th in his race finishing only a few seconds behind the leader, which was great.

Erin Crowley, Jade Penman, Katie Harvie, Tegan Baker, Jess Sturling, Molly Mather, Rachel Gordon and Eloise Baker were the representatives for the girls. Again they rowed flat out with the boys cheering them on whilst they recovered! Tegan managed to come 7th in her heat which was a real credit to her determination.

We hope more students will take up this opportunity in the future. Well done to all of the above students.
