Work Experience 2015

Work Experience 2015

Year 10 students at TCC have recently completed a week of work experience.

Some of the placements included:

Bodmin Police Station and Whitsand Bay Hotel.

The Plymouth Aquarium and Torpoint MOT Garage.

Portland Academy in Sunderland and even as far as NATO in Norway.

Many of our local shops in Torpoint  including Dashers and Boots.

Huggins Boatyard and Mashfords.

Barbican Theatre and Plymouth University to name but a few.

Pip Matthews, who coordinated the work experience, said ‘I’d like to say a huge thank you to our year 10 student’s for making Work Experience one of the most fantastic years I have had. The feedback we have received about our students from the employers has been outstanding. We have been told that “our students are a credit to the college and to their parents “.  I am incredibly proud of them all and it has been a pleasure to listen to the experiences they have had.  It’s not easy going to a strange place and working alongside strangers and being asked to share the responsibilities of a job, however they have all survived to tell the tale and some have even been offered part time and summer work.  A few of our budding employees have also stayed an extra couple of days as the employers didn’t want to let them go!’

The pressure is now on for our new year 10s to start thinking about where they would like to spend their week’s placement next summer.

A massive thank you to employers, students, parents and visiting teaching staff that made this year possible.
