Biggest Ever Football Session at TCC
On Thursday 7th March, 40 girls across years 7-11 were involved in a football day at TCC to take part in the biggest ever football session. This is a campaign to get more girls across the country involved in football.
The sessions were split into two halves; skill development and then a tournament. It was a fun day celebrating the talent we have at TCC and great to have so many girls involved.
Thanks to our leaders Poppy S, Keira B, Tegan H and April P for helping run the Year 7&8 tournament and Amy W for helping with the Year 9&10 tournament.
Year 9&10 Tournament at TCC Vs Saltash and Looe
On Tuesday 12th March, our year 9&10 girl's football team laced up their boots for their final football matches of the season. We hosted a tournament and invited local schools. Sadly, two schools pulled out on the day which only left us with Looe and Saltash as opponents.
The girls were keen to finish the year on a win and played some excellent football. We played three games across the afternoon and were victorious in all of them, beating Saltash A 3-1, Looe 3-0, and Saltash B 2-1.
Special mention to the goal scorers Poppy S (hatrick!), Saskia B, Essie H, Olivia B and an honourable debut goal from Izzy W. A great way for our County Cup Semi-Finalists to finish the season!
Year 7&8 Tournament at Liskeard
A team of keen Year 7&8 girls finally managed to play their tournament at Liskeard as it has sadly been postponed due to the poor weather before half term.
12 girls represented the school and were earning stickers for team values of teamwork, resilience, self-belief, honesty and passion. Students were nominated by other teams to recognise if they had achieved one of those values to win stickers for our school. The girls were mixed up into new teams when we got there, which consisted of players from a variety of schools around East Cornwall. It was a great opportunity for them to socialise and make new friends.
Congratulations to these girls for earning the following awards.
- Josie D: Honesty X2 and Passion
- Kayla H: Teamwork X2, Self-Belief and Honesty
- Mia H: Honesty
- Atthea M: Determination
- Allisha B: Teamwork x2 and Determination
Josie D scored 4 goals, Mia H scored 3 goals, Halle R scored 1 goal, Alisha B scored 7 goals, Kayla H scored 6 goals, Chloe S scored 1 goal and Ava C scored 1 goal.
Other honourable performances came from Maisy W, Holly F, Lacey-Grace H, and Lacey A. Overall, Torpoint finished a very respectable third place.
Thanks to Miss Milford for driving us there, Mr Watkins for picking us up, and Miss Englefield for supporting Miss Rowe and the girls on the day.

Boys Football Tournament at Launceston College on Tuesday 5th March
Mrs Porter, Mrs Davies and Miss Rowe took 13 of our pupils to Launceston for a football tournament, and what a successful day we have had.
The first challenge of the day for the pupils was getting into a team which was a mix of pupils from a range of schools, which challenged them socially to make friends and meet new people.
The rest of the day consisted of them working with their new team to earn awards for: Teamwork, resilience, self-belief, honesty and passion. Students were nominated by other teams to recognise if they had achieved one of those values to win stickers for our school.
The below students were awarded for these values:
• Joe T - Teamwork, honesty , self belief
• Troy LW- Self belief
• Callum F - self belief
• Bentley C - Teamwork, Honesty, Teamwork
• Harvey D - Passion
• Jack C - passion and honesty

Joshua-Lee bagged himself 10 goals across the tournament. Bentley, Thomas, Joe, and Christopher C all scored 1 goal.
Zac D, Evan E, Chris C, Liam B, Joe T, Finely F, Bentley, Josh and Harvey all contributed towards goals with some great assists (they were most proud of telling me exactly how many they did!). Jack, Troy and Liam made some great saves in goal today.
Special mention to Joshua Lee and Callum F who were separated and played in a team with no other Torpoint pupils.
On the way home, spirits were high, all the boys were joining in with karaoke and smiles beaming.
Overall a fantastic day for TCC, and the boys played really well and came over many social challenges!
