Operation Encompass
We are an Operation Encompass school. This is a nationwide initiative set up by the police to ensure that schools have all the necessary and timely information they need the morning after the police have attended an incident of domestic violence or abuse where children were present. The goal is to ensure that police and schools have all the information they need to best support an individual who has experienced this trauma.
The goals of Operation Encompass are:
In every force
Our aim is to ensure that schools have timely information about all police-attended incidents of domestic abuse, no matter where in the world the child lives.
In every school
Our aim is to enable staff in every school to understand how to support children who are experiencing domestic abuse, no matter where in the world the child lives.
For every child
Our aim is to ensure all child experiencing domestic abuse receive timely support in their school, no matter where in the world the child lives.
Every school has a designated person the police contact before the child comes to school the next day. That way, the school can offer the child whatever support is needed. For us, the designated person is our Safeguarding Lead. Becky Lear. Becky Lear can be contacted via email: lear@torpoint.cornwall.sch.uk or by calling the College reception 01752 812511.
