Consultation on Post-16 Provision at Torpoint Community College

Why is this being considered?
Over recent years, the College has experienced a sustained decline in the number of students
choosing to continue into the sixth form. Alongside this, we have carefully reviewed:
• student and parent voice
• curriculum offer and breadth
• student experience
• financial sustainability
• availability of alternative provision locally.

What is being proposed?
The consultation relates to a potential proposal to:
• discontinue post-16 provision at the College, and
• formally change the age range from 11–18 to 11–16 from 1st September 2027.
Again, this is not a decision — it is a proposal for consultation.

How can you have your say?
We welcome your views as part of this consultation. You can read the proposal documentation
and submit feedback via: Future of Sixth Form Provision – Torpoint Community College | Let’s
Talk Cornwall A stakeholder meeting led by members of the College’s leadership team, with
representation from the Governing Body, will also be held on Wednesday 15th July at the
