Looking Ahead to Next Week – Hot Weather Arrangements
We are looking forward to welcoming all students back to Torpoint Community College next week and hearing about their experiences during activities week and work experience.
As we prepare for students’ return, we are closely monitoring the weather forecast. While we know forecasts can change, current predictions suggest that temperatures could be particularly high on Monday. To help keep students comfortable, students will be permitted to wear their college PE kit from Monday.
The PE kit consists of:
- The short-sleeved navy/sky blue PE top with the college logo.
• Plain black or navy shorts.
We also ask that students come to school prepared for the warm weather by:
- Bringing a refillable water bottle. Water coolers are available on site for regular refills.
• Applying a high-factor sunscreen before coming to school and bringing it with them to reapply if required.
• Bringing a sun hat for use during breaktimes, lunchtimes and outdoor activities if they wish.
During the school day, we will:
- Encourage students to stay in shaded areas during break and lunchtime, with indoor spaces also available.
• Allow students to keep water bottles with them in lessons and encourage regular hydration.
• Adapt PE lessons and outdoor activities according to weather conditions, including additional rest breaks and reduced physical activity where necessary.
• Remind students regularly to drink water and take sensible precautions in the heat.
We will continue to monitor the forecast over the weekend and will provide further updates on Monday.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming students back next week.
